ARCHIVE NO. 001 — THE PIER

Before acceptance, before legal protections, before many had a place to call home, there was the Pier.

Along the Hudson River in New York City, generations of LGBTQ+ youth—many of them Black, Latino, transgender, and rejected by their families—found refuge on the Christopher Street Pier. They built chosen families, watched over one another, danced beneath the city lights, and created joy in the face of hardship. What history often remembers as a gathering place was, for many, a lifeline.

The Pier honors those young people whose resilience helped shape modern LGBTQ+ culture. It is not a recreation of a single night, but a tribute to countless untold stories of survival, friendship, and hope.

At Oil & Ink Provisions, every design begins with history. Every collection is created to preserve a story that deserves to be remembered—not only in books, but through the art we choose to wear.
